The Emergency Department at Orchard Hospital is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide emergency medical care to residents of southern Butte County and northern Yuba and Sutter Counties. We offer shorter wait times than other area hospitals and have a dedicated team of physicians and nurses, including a physician on duty 24 hours per day.
The Emergency Department is prepared and equipped to provide comprehensive and efficient emergency care to patients in need. The Orchard Hospital Emergency Department stands ready to treat critical and acute illnesses and injuries 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Triage: A Triage nurse will assess the severity of your condition based on your symptoms, medical history, and vital signs, such as body temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure. Triage helps ensure that critically ill patients are seen first. That is why a physician may see another patient before you, even though that patient arrived at the Emergency Department after you.
Diagnostic Test: Orchard Hospital offers advanced technology needed to enable doctors and staff to quicker diagnosis, so you can get the treatment you need as quickly as possible. Diagnostic tests may include laboratory tests, X-Rays, scans, imaging, or other tests that will help your physician decide on the best course of treatment. Based on the test and diagnosis, you may be discharged to go home, admitted into the hospital for additional care, or transferred to a hospital with a higher level of care.
We strive to provide an extraordinary level of care, including compassion, knowledge, and skill for critically ill and injured adults and children. Our mission in the Emergency Department is to provide outstanding, compassionate, family-oriented care to our community in a timely manner. Our goal is to maintain a 2-hour limit from arrival to discharge.
Our staff is proud to serve the community of Biggs, Gridley, Live Oak, Oroville, Yuba City, Marysville, and Chico.
